Group Transport & Import Coordinator
About The Position
Yapama is a commercial healthcare company that is part of the Mitrelli Group. It specializes in the distribution of medical equipment (laboratory, imaging and medical devices), solutions and services. We have representation in several African countries.
Currently, we are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Global Transport Coordinator & Import Manager to oversee and manage transportation logistics and import processes. This role is based in Luanda and involves two key areas of responsibility: global coordination of transports from suppliers worldwide to various sites across Africa, and local management of import processes in Angola.
The Group Transport & Import Coordinator is expected to contribute to creating a positive HSEQ culture within Yapama and ensure familiarity with and adherence to local HSEQ codes and practices.
Key Responsibilities:
Group Responsibilities:
- Coordinate all transports from suppliers worldwide to different sites across Africa;
- Develop and implement transportation strategies to optimize delivery times and reduce costs;
- Liaise with suppliers, freight forwarders, and logistics partners to ensure smooth and timely shipments;
- Monitor and track shipments, resolving any issues or delays promptly;
- Ensure compliance with international shipping regulations and customs requirements.
Local Responsibilities:
- Coordinate all import and export processes in Angola:
- Manage relationships with local customs authorities and ensure compliance with Angolan import regulations;
- Oversee the documentation and clearance of imported goods;
- Collaborate with local suppliers and logistics providers to ensure efficient import operations.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable laws to the import/export of material. Consult line manager for the advice if in any doubt.
General Responsibilities:
- Control and implement strategies for KPI optimization;
- Maintain accurate records of shipments, transportation costs, and delivery schedules;
- Prepare and present regular reports on transportation and import activities and performance metrics.
Requirements
- Bachelor in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration or a related field;
- Minimum of 5 years proven experience in transportation coordination and 3 years in a Coordinator, import management;
- Strong understanding of international shipping regulations and customs procedures;
- Strong interpersonal skills to collaborate with customer services, warehouse workforce and suppliers;
- Inventory and handling management.
- Knowledge of different transport modes and custom clearance.
- Rigorous compliance with procedures and processes.
- Strong organizational skills, ability to manage priorities.
- Analysis and problem solving and result oriented.
- Team player and positive personality.
- Reactivity and stress management during peaks of activity.
- Excellent organizational and multitasking skills;
- Portuguese & English proficiency is a must (written and spoken).
- Must have Angolan nationality.
